Lobbying, according to the Cambridge Dictionary, is the “activity of trying to persuade someone in authority, usually an elected member of a government, to support laws or rules that give your organization or industry an advantage.” The pharmaceutical industry has spent more on lobbying than any other industry in America in order to gain influence with Congress and the administration, about $3 billion within the last 20 years.
